[May 15th, 2023] NEW Wilderness Bosses, Loot Keys, Blood Slayer Additions, and more!

NEW Wilderness Bosses

SpawnPK is introducing three new global bosses to the wilderness, with more advanced mechanics than any other wilderness boss before!

Each have their own distinctive Singles-Plus lair, which gives you infinite magic sickness until you leave the lair. Once you exit the lair, the sickness wear down to a duration of five minutes.

They all have a rare chance to drop one of three unique pieces of the Cursed fang blade, which is a new PvP melee weapon (more information below). They also each have a very rare chance to drop a component used to upgrade respective skotizo weapon

With that being said, they are also immune to the power of Skotizo, so revenant / skotizo weapons will not provide additional damage or accuracy against them! You must obtain the new upgrades to harm them with the wildy PvM effects!

Dark Callisto

This boss's lair can be found near the regular Callisto boss, and requires 100+ Callisto KC to enter

Dark callisto has a weakness to magic and will take reduced damage against melee and ranged attacks.

His attacks include the following:

  • Melee (standard): Any player within melee distance will receive damage from this attack. It is its most powerful attack, and hits 50% through prayers

  • Range (standard): Players outside of melee distance will be hit with this attack. It is weaker than its melee attack, but still hits 50% through prayer

  • Knockback (special): Players in the cave will be knocked backwards by a white projectile. Once knocked down, they will receive immense magic damage
(unless protecting from magic with prayer)

  • Bear traps: At two different stages (66% and 33% health) Dark Callisto will spawn bear traps around the area. Standing on any of these traps will deal typeless damage to the player and freeze them for 9 ticks

Dark Callisto has a very rare chance to drop the Cursed fang shard 1 (one of three components to craft a cursed fang)

There is also a very rare chance to drop Claws of callisto which can be attached to a Skotizo chainmace to upgrade it into a Ursine chainmace. This can also be attached to a dyed skotizo chainmace (or can be dyed afterwards)

59DWyb1.png

Ursine chainmace provides +10% more wildy PvM damage than the Skotizo chainmace. In addition, it provides +10% melee accuracy, and also increases the chance to spawn superior variants by 10% (includes bosses, blood-revenants, etc.)

Its special attack consumes 50% energy, and provides additional accuracy & damage. Upon successful hit, it inflicts bleed to your opponent and prevents running for 6 ticks (3.6 secs). The bleed damage is higher for PvM than PvP

Vile Venenatis

This boss's lair can be found near the regular Venenatis boss, and requires 100+ Venenatis KC to enter.

Vile Venenatis has a weakness to melee and will take reduced damage against ranged and magic attacks.

Her attacks include the following:

  • Range attack (standard): Launches a green projectile at players

  • Magic attack (Standard): Launches a web projectile at players

  • Melee attack (standard): Any player within melee distance will receive damage from this attack instead of the two above

  • Sticky web (special): Deploys sticky web at a random player, creating a 7x5 AoE area where any player standing within it will take rapid hits, as well as have their prayer and run energy drained

  • Spiderlings (special): Deploys some weak spiderlings to assist her. The more that are alive within the lair, the more Venenatis can hit through protection prayers.

Vile Venenatis has a very rare chance to drop the Cursed fang shard 2 (one of three components to craft a cursed fang)

There is also a very rare chance to drop Fangs of venenatis which can be attached to a Skotizo bow to upgrade it to a Webweaver bow. This can also be attached to a dyed skotizo bow (or can be dyed afterwards)

7nLlhbc.png

Passively, it provides the same upgrades as mentioned with ursine chainmace (more damage/accuracy, and higher superior chance)

Its special attack consumes 50% energy, and causes a rain of arrows hitting the enemy four times in succession. Each hit deals up to 40% of the player's max hit.

Devious Vet'ion

This boss's lair can be found near the regular Vet'ion boss, and requires 100+ Vet'ion KC to enter.

Devious Vet'ion has a weakness to range and will take reduced damage against melee and magic attacks.

His attacks include the following:

  • Lightning (standard): He launches 11 bolts of lightning at random tiles in the lair. Up to 7 of these tiles will be the location of players that are in the lair. If a player is standing on the tile when it strikes they will take massive typeless damage. If adjacent, they will take slight damage. NOTE: If you're frozen, damage is reduced from lightning -- this is to ensure that PK scenarios are not too unfair for the players involved

  • Hellhounds: At 50% hitpoints, he will summon hellhounds to attack players. For as long as they're alive, he can not take any damage

  • Shield bash: He will raise his shield and a set of AoE tiles will be indicated with dark shadows. Players standing within the tiles will take high amounts of damage and be stunned for 5 ticks

  • Enraged form: Once his hitpoints reach 0, he will revive himself to full HP in "enraged form" (indicated with gold coloring) and need to be killed once again. The hellhounds will summon again when he reaches 50% hitpoints during this form

Devious Vet'ion has a very rare chance to drop the Cursed fang hilt (one of the three components to craft a cursed fang)

There is also a very rare chance to drop Skull of Vet'ion which can be attached to a Skotizo sceptre to upgrade it to a Accursed sceptre. This can also be attached to a dyed skotizo sceptre (or can be dyed afterwards)

i6feMoL.png

Passively, it provides the same upgrades as mentioned with the other weapons (more damage/accuracy, and higher superior chance)

Unlike Skotizo Sceptre, it also has a unique autocast spell which can deal massive damage in PvM combat (particularly wildy!)

It also has a special attack, which consumes 50% energy that deals 50% more damage than the autocast spell making it a PvM nuke!

Cursed Fang

Once all three pieces of the fang are obtained, they can be combined to craft the Cursed Fang.

This weapon is considerably the new BiS for melee PvP (for auto-attacking) but also has a very note-worthy special attack!

ehC8jt4.gif

This blade has two unique passive effects:

  • Upon rolling for a chance to successfully hit your opponent, the fang will re-roll if the first one fails for another attempt.
    • With a slight SPK twist, the formula will also "curve" based on the defensive bonuses of your opponent -- making it somewhat of a "tank buster"
    • This curve formula allows it to not be excessively OP against squishier players, while still maintaining good accuracy against tanks, too.

  • Upon successful hits, rather than hitting a random number between 0 and your max hit, the fang will hit a random number between 15% and 85% of your maximum hit. When attacking a max hit dummy, you'll notice a distinction between your max hit and "true max hit"

In addition, the blade also has a special attack which consumes 25% energy. This special attack's energy cost does not work with reductions such as vigour.

The special attack will improve the damage & accuracy, as well as improve the damage roll to a random number between 15% and 100% of your maximum hit.

Singles-plus Zones

All singles-plus areas in-game now have a PJ timer of 20 ticks (12 seconds)

This includes the new lairs, as well as other existing (or new) locations with this combat type as well

Vintage (Welfare) Mode Changes

First and foremost, we've renamed Welfare Mode to "Vintage mode" which can now be accessed via ::vintage or ::vint (the old ::welf / ::welfare commands still work as well)

There is also a brand new main menu, as well as a "Vintage master" NPC located near the edgeville wilderness border

CdnN1WD.png

You will now receive "completion tasks" based on your welfare mode kill count (non-bots) (non-repeatable)

The shop has also received some new additions / changes, and we've also added a daily leaderboard!

This leaderboard counts the top (non-bot) vintage mode kills for the day, with the following prices:

  • 1st place: $20 bond
  • 2nd place: $10 bond
  • 3rd-5th place: $5 bond

Vintage Dungeon

This new dungeon can be accessed by purchasing a Vintage dungeon teleport tab from the point store. New players will also receive 10 free teletabs in their starter pack.

Upon teleporting in, this dungeon is deep-wilderness singles-plus and works similarly to the Blood Slayer Cave (with a few differences)

  • Monsters in this dungeon drop decent starter gear and Vintage tickets
  • Vintage tickets can be cashed in for points at edgeville (and are also tradeable)
  • Drop rate and tickets increase the more monsters you kill (this bonus is indicated with an overlay) until you leave the cavern
  • Monsters with better loot are found deeper within the dungeon
  • The only exit is from the location you started, which takes you to another "tunnel" that you must run down to exit back to Edgeville home

JXCS4rG.png

This new dungeon provides a decent wilderness option (for both PvMers and PvPers) who don't have good enough gear to compete in the real deep wild, or just simply prefer the "vintage" style of SpawnPK (limited pets, customs, etc.)

Unlike Edgeville and Pure, it also encourages the full combat triangle (NH, bridding, etc.) in PvP.

Lastly, bounty hunter is active in this dungeon but is isolated to this zone. Meaning you can receive targets who are also in the cavern (and only in the cavern)

Loot Keys

We've added loot keys to SpawnPK! In order to unlock them, speak with Skully at home and pay a small fee of 100 blood money.

While toggled, your loot from player kills will be placed inside of a loot key, of which you can carry op to five. This does not include bonus drops / treasures / blood money. And of course, if you have a yoshi pet out (or an opened GLB) it will be overrided by the auto-grab

Loot keys can not be banked, emptied, dropped, traded, or destroyed. You must claim the loot they carry via a loot chest

6WM0BKa.png

The loot chest can be found at home, as well as other common teleport locations such as: Pure Zone, Clan Meet, Mage Bank, EdgePvP, and Help Zone.

When holding loot keys while skulled, there will be an indication to you & other players of how many keys you're holding. There is also a red skull variant for this as well.

Blood Slayer Expansion

We've made various additions, QoLs, and adjustments to various blood slayer content!

NEW Blood slayer items

We've added Blood slayer javelins to the store! Packs of 10 can be bought for 5 blood slayer points, and require Rank 15 to purchase.

When used with a Heavy Ballista, it will cause the special attack to inflict bleed based on damage dealt. For sake of balance, the bleed applies a tick after the special attack (as opposed to morrigan's javelin)

qlzRUpM.png

You can also purchase Blood slayer hide body & chaps from the blood slayer store! They require Rank 20, and cost 500 blood slayer points each.

Each piece provides a +2.5% chance for a task kill to count as two. It also inherits the drop rate bonus of mythic d'hide (if you own the respective piece)

2RwF2vE.gif

Lastly, we've added the new Blood slayer hasta, which requires Rank 30 to purcahse and costs 1,000 points (and also requires you to own the Blood slayer spear). This hasta is the one-handed equivalent of the blood slayer spear, with an attack speed matching the tentacle.

The special attack is similar to that of a Dragon hasta as opposed to the spear counterpart, consuming your full spec bar and dealing damage based on the amount of energy spent.

BdErXMt.png

Blood slayer beast (adjustments)

Frost, Lava, and Earth relic drop rates have been changed from 1/1,000 to 1/1,500

The blood slayer beast pet has also received some buffs!

  • Blood slayer beast pet gear boost increased from 10% to 15%
  • Blood slayer beast pet damage boost increased from 5% to 10%

Task Management

You can now speak with a blood slayer master and click "Manage my tasks and information" to view plenty of (previous omitted / vague) information.

ABkdzv4.png

When you receive a PvM task that you enjoy, you can now spend 500 blood slayer points to "prefer" it. Upon picking up a new task, you will have a higher chance to receive your preferred task vs. the other tasks

We've also added a couple new tasks to the list as well:

  • Nex (if requirements are met) has been added to Boss Hunter tasks
  • The new bosses (if requirements are met) have been added to Boss Hunter tasks
  • Blood-revenants have been added to Monster Hunter tasks

Also, we've completely removed the gear requirement for PvP blood slayer tasks. The way we see it, PvM tasks always had less roadblocks, and were much better for earning points / ranks.

We may add new task types in the near future, which could potentially include bringing back the old gear requirements for additional points. We'd love to hear if you guys have any other suggestions on our discord!

Blood Slayer Cave (Integerity Change)

These changes may be more praised by some members of the player-base vs. others (PVMers vs. PKers) but we considered them necessary integrity changes.

Initially, the cavern was much less rewarding as far as drops go, and required more time to gather keys and essence to fight the boss. That has since changed quite a bit, and yet still has rather over-the-top "crutches" for what's meant to be a dangerous wilderness dungeon

As a result, we've made the following changes:

  • The blood slayer beast portion of the cave is now Singles+ (like the rest of the cave)
  • Similar to the new wildy boss lairs, you will endure infinite magic sickness while you're in the cavern. Once you exit the cavern your magic sickness will wear down to a duration of five minutes

Nex (Changes / Adjustments)

Harbringer Nex and Nex have been set back to her original hitpoints (prior to its last patch) but with some caveats!

Similar to the new boss lairs (and now Blood Slayer cave) you will now endure infinite magic sickness while inside the lair. Once you leave, your magic sickness will wear down to five minutes.

Lastly, we've made some adjustments to her combat:

  • Removed her soulsplit prayer (her heal was not helping her very much)
  • Deflect Melee and Deflect Range are now slightly more common than Deflect Magic
  • She will rotate between prayers more frequently, and at a randomized pace

Ancient Hydra Pet (Integrity Change)

For context, the intended purpose of the pet was to be more of a tank buster, providing a counter against opponents with very high tank set ups. This still, in theory, makes it a very powerful pet.

However, what it turned out to be was a defense buster across the board. Weakening tanks as intended, but also turning players wearing welfare/lower-tier gear from "squishy" to nearly no-arm'd. To make matters worse, this was often irrespective of the pet-user's gear.

This ends up being not only unbalanced, but detrimental to the server as a whole. We have a lot of high-accuracy customs on SpawnPK, but tests have shown numbers far surpassing anything else with this pet.

With that being said, we've made our changes to reflect the original intention of the pet as opposed to strictly across the board nerfs.

  1. Hydra pets no longer ignore defences unless the target has a high enough defence bonus. This means it will proc on players with high level tank gear (justiciar, torva, tektonic, etc.) but NOT squishy/welfare gear (spawnies, etc.)

  2. Hydra's spit can now only activate when the pet is fully charged

  3. The spit's cooldown has been increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds

Critical / Max Hit splats (QoL)

When you hit your max hit (or cap) on an opponent, its hitsplat will be distinguished with a bright orange/gold trim

The look obviously varies between whether you have "New hit marks" toggled in your settings tab

java_AcGUT6IQz6.png java_0EbQnWfBIq.png

New crystal armor / BoFA dyes

In the bloodcore shop, you can now purchase crystals to dye your crystal armor pieces or Bow of faerdhinen (not including the imbued version)

Each crystal costs 1,000 blood core tokens, and one crystal dyes one crystal piece. There are seven different color variants to choose from!

Much like most dyes, if you lose the item on death, it will drop the non-dyed version and you will autokeep the dye / crystal.

mSdYZXj.png

New Hotkeys (QoL)

  • CTRL+H to prompt the ::home command

  • CTRL+S to prompt searching in the item spawn tab (will also switch to the tab)

  • CTRL+S while banking to prompt bank item search

  • CTRL+D while banking to deposit all items (inventory, equipment, etc.)

  • CTRL+R while banking to prompt bank item repairing

Other QoLs, Fixes, Changes

  • Fixed the PK ratings reward with cursed orb / master orb

  • Fixed crashing that occurred at clan wars maps

  • Reduced the attack speed of BOFAs and Zbows (in PvP only)

  • Casting vengeance now requires true (non-boosted) defence level to cast

  • Fixed bug that allowed additional hits like swift procs to hit through Demonic Gorilla's prayers

Behind the Scenes Improvements

A big part of this update's development was upgrading our previous asset management system, which allowed for most of these new models / animations / graphics. It was a very time consuming process to develop, but to put it into perspective, the benefits of this modernization will show for years to come!

It allows us to import new models, animations, graphics, items, NPCs, etc. with ease as -- compared to what used to be a very slow & tedious process. In fact, sometimes the process would be nearly impossible due to incompatibilities! These new weapons, maps etc. on the update were previously incompatible with our old/antiquated system.

To put it into further perspective, we made some very small showcases to demonstrate these new developments. A lot of NPCs at home have been changed to brand new (more modern) models that previously would've taken a while to import.

We also added "proper" or at least more appealing graphics to some things like BOFA's arrow projectiles, Zaryte bow's (as well as all the new content in this update, of course!).

Due to the upgrades mentioned earlier, we were able to do all of that in an hour or less! Improvements will continue as we gear toward Raids 3, which luckily will take nearly as much time as this initial process (the heavy lifting is over!)
