The Nex Boss

Nex is located in a level 50 wilderness (singles) dungeon. The entrance to this dungeon is located in Ice Plateau, near the frost dragons (boss teleports) and requires you to redeem a Nex unlock scroll in order to access it.

The Nex unlock scroll can be purchased for 3,500 Hotspot points from the hotspoint point store at home.

Much like Nightmare and Hunlleff, Nex is a global boss which means that even in the singles zone anyone can attack it, and anyone who deals sufficient damage will receive a drop from her.

To avoid complications of PK scenarios at Nex, the attack mechanics consist of a simple magic attack. But, she cycles between four different overhead prayers every few attacks:

  • Soulsplit: She will heal herself on each attack (the amount dependent on how many players she's attacking)
  • Deflect range: Any player who attacks her with range will receive 50% of the damage back as a reflect hit (and she'll take 0 damage)
  • Deflect magic: Same as above, but for magic spells
  • Deflect melee: Same as above, but for melee attacks

Superior Nex (The "harbringer" Nex)

There is a 1/150 chance for Nex to respawn as the "Harbringer Nex" (superior version) which has more HP, but drops items at a much better rate. Additionally, her drop table includes an exclusive pet and Nihil gems (explained further below)

Nex Rewards

Among Nex's drop table includes some new unique items!

  • Nihil shards
    • A common "currency" drop guaranteed from Nex kills (similar to Hunllef's crystal shards)
    • Used for various upgrades like Zaryte c'bow and Imbued nex armors (see below)
       
  • Zaryte crossbow
    • Obtained by Nex's rare Nihil horn drop, attaching it to an Ancient crossbow and 1,000 Nihil shards
    • This crossbow has a special attack similar to ACB, but with a guaranteed bolt spec on the first hit

  • Ancient Godsword
    • This godsword's special attack will "mark" your opponent -- if they are within 5 tiles of you after 8 ticks they..
      • Will receive 25 magic damage (protectable with "protect/deflect magic" prayers)
      • Heal the attacker 25 health
         
    • In addition, this special attack deals 125 damage on the mark for PvM only (heal for attacker is still 25) making it a decent PvM powerhouse weapon as well

  • Nex pets
    • Standard nex pet
      • Increases accuracy of smoke spells by +30%
      • Increases heal of blood spells by +15%
      • Shadow spells drain enemy combat stats by 10% of damage dealt
      • Increases ice spell freeze time by +2 ticks
         
    • Harbringer nex pet
      • Increases prayer combat boosts by +25%
      • Increases your max prayer by +10

  • Imbued Nex Armors
    • Players can imbue the existing torva/pernix/virtus items by interacting with the "Nihil merchant" in the dungeon
       
    • To imbue a piece of nex equipment, he'll require:
      • 1,000 Nihil shards
      • 1 Nihil gem (dropped by superior nex)
         
    • Each imbued nex set has improved stats, as well as unique set effects (obtained by wearing all 3 pieces of the imbued set)
      • Torva set effect
        • Extra +5 strength bonus
        • Increased melee hit cap by +3
        • Immunity to poison and venom
      • Pernix set effect
        • Extra +15 range strength bonus
        • +15% chance to ignore enemy range defences
      • Virtus set effect
        • Extra +25 crush, stab, and slash defence bonus

           
    • The sets all have more of a dark/grey tint, as well as a purple textured trim

Gameplay changes & Bug Fixes

  • Added a proper "door" mechanic to Pirate hut and Axe hut
    • Doors also have jam mechanic, which results in the door getting "stuck" if you spam it too much
       
  • Fixed clipping issues with pirate hut (you could magic/range attack players through the corners of the room)
     
  • Fixed aggression issues with wilderness NPCs
    • For example, pirates will stop aggro when you leave the hut and re-aggro when you enter
    • Fixed the delays that sometimes occur with monster aggro
       
  • Improved issues with the way hits travel when going through stairs/doors
     
  • Target priority has been improved for global bosses like Hunllef
     
  • Raised blood diamond cost for standard nex armors
     
  • Fixed some issues with ignore list functionality (blocks public & private chat messages)
     
  • Fixed the look for a lot of items across the board (capes showing through certain armor, etc.). It might not be perfect but it's a work in-progress, and it should be a decent improvement from the way it was before
