[August 20th, 2020] August Bundle: Nightmare Boss and a TON more!

The Nightmare (wilderness boss)

  • This brand new boss has been added to the wilderness, dropping a ton of valuables including some new exclusives!
  • Unlike most bosses, this boss is always a global boss meaning that it's forced multi even though it's in a singles location, and players who deal 300+ damage to the boss will receive a drop from it
  • But, in order to fight this boss, you must redeem a Nightmare unlock scroll!
    • This scroll is obtainable for 25,000,000 cursed bounties in the Cursed BH shop
    • It's tradeable, so you could alternatively purchase it from other players

  • The boss will only attack players who've dealt damage to it during its lifetime
  • It has two different attacks:
    • A magic attack, which will allow it to heal itself
    • A ranged attack, which will very slightly drain prayer points from those who are attacked by it
       
  • Drop table includes a lot of Cursed bounty hunter shop items, and a new exclusive pet!
  • The Nightmare pet has the following effects:
    • Keeps magic level boosted by +10
    • Increases magic accuracy by +25%
    • When opponent is bleeding, magic accuracy is incresed by another +50% (75% total)

  • This boss also has a chance to spawn as the superior version, The Night Terror. 
    (NOTE: Like the Nightmare boss, you're also required to have the Nightmare Scroll unlocked in order to fight this superior version!)

  • Not only does it have improved drop rates, but it also drops the new Orb of terror

    • This staff has it's own powerful autocast spell

    • Special attack heals you and inflicts bleeding (maximum 25 damage, 5x5)

    • Special attack's damage, accuracy, and healing is boosted by the Siren's tome

Drop Rate Bonus Revamp

  • Explanation of our old system: 
    • Before this update, there was a lot of confusion and criticism with the way our "drop rate bonus" system worked
    • Originally our system worked on an "additive" system, which would mean if you had a 50% drop rate bonus, a 1/100 drop rate would turn into 1/50
    • But, it didn't actually work like this in many cases. Because of all the drop rate bonus stacks added from updates over the years, restrictions were added which caused a lot of confusion:
    • Drop rate cap at 90% (anything at 100%+ would cause a "guarantee drop" so we had to restrict this possibility)
    • A rather disorganized / confusing "curve system" which would result in diminishing returns after 50%+ drop rate bonus. This was added to prevent too many items entering the game, but this sloppy solution caused confusion. Drop rate bonuses didn't feel like they were helping the way they should, leading to a lot of confusion for players. This is a big reason why we decided to overhaul the bonus system entirely (see below)..

       
  • The good news (overhaul): We've now changed to a multiplicative system, which not only frees up room for more new content w/ drop rate bonuses (without harsh detriment to the eco), but also allows for a much more transparent system that can be easily understood by players!
     
  • How to calculate your bonus under the new system: 
    • You will notice that your bonus in the equipment screen is now over 100% (this is because 100% = default / no bonus, rather than 0%)
    • Here's how you can calculate how it effects your drop rates:
    • Example: If a drop chance is 1/500 and your drop rate bonus is 175%..
      • 500 / 1.75 = 285.7 = 286 (rounded up)
      • New drop rate: 1/286
         
  • Note: Drop rate bonuses for most items in game have been scaled up, in order to better suite this new system
  • Note: Drop rate bonuses only apply for drops that are rare+ (1/50 chance or up)
     

Mythic Zone Improvements

  • A lot of mythic rank players have been concerned about the value of mythic zone after previous nerfs
  • To compensate for those updates, we've added a new "mythic token" currency system that will hopefully sweeten the zone without causing too many issues of balance
  • We plan to make further improvements to this zone, but we hope this proves to be a positive step forward!
  • Side note: Wizard Mizgog will now show you the "time left" until your next daily skotizo/vorkath trips are available
     
  • Mythic tokens
    • Killing mythic mobs in the zone will drop "Mythic tokens" (spawned bosses do as well, but in slightly less quantities)
    • Mythic tokens can be used to purchase the following items:
      • Skotizo scroll (untradeable): Grants an extra skotizo teleport from Wizard Mizgog. Only usable once every 12 hours!
      • Luck scroll (tradeable): Increases drop rate bonus by +10% for one hour
      • Raids scroll (tradeable): Increases raid chest reward chance by +10% for an hour
      • Mythic robe top & bottoms: Mediocre stats (ahrims) but increases drop rate bonus by +3.75% per piece
      • Mythic hide top & bottoms: Mediocre stats (karil's) but increases drop rate bonus by +3.75% per piece

New Bloodcore Content

  • SpawnPK is in need of more item sinkage! In order to accomplish this, we've added some new bloodcore content to encourage sinking
  • Additionally, we've updated some bloodcore token yield amounts for certain items that match their average market price in the Trading Post
  • With our revamp of the drop rate system, we've been given the opportunity to add some appealing content related to PvM!
     
  • Lucky fairy mini-pet
    • Costs 50,000 bloodcore tokens
    • Grants a +5% drop rate bonus!

  • Gilded fairy mini-pet
    • Available as a Tier III enchantment (lucky fair mini-pet sacrifice, 10% success rate)
    • Grants a +15% drop rate bonus!
    • Grants a +5% chance for 2X rare drops (stacks with fortune genie, of course!)

Risk Protection System

  • Tired of getting attacked in deep wild by players with nowhere near the same risk as you? You're in luck!
  • By talking to Risky Rick at home, you can now configure Risk protection!
  • Check out the information presented in the screenshot below for more information on how it works:

EdgePvP Point System

  • Kills at ::edgepvp will now grant you +1 EdgePvP point!
  • In order to obtain an EdgePvP point via kills, you must:
    • Have 100+ player kills
    • Use hybrid combat during the fight of that kill
    • Not have the standard "anti-farm" reward block timer on your opponent
       
  • EdgePvP points can be spent on a wide variety of items from different minigames, serving as an alternative obtainment method for them (and also creating a profitable system for players who participate in this zone)

Money-making Teleport Improvements

  • Bonus activities
    • Every 24 hours, a random activity from each category (easy / medium / hard) will be selected as a bonus activity
    • Bonus activities grant double the original reward!
    • You can tell which activity is selected as the bonus activity when it has a coin stack icon next to its name
    • Additionally, we've made visual improvements to the money-making teleport interface!

  • ToB (Expert+) activity
    • There is a new Hard daily activity, where you must complete 10 Expert+ Theatre of Blood raids
    • We've chosen this difficulty to reward those who've unlocked it, but also hinder players from bypassing the daily limit via alt accounts.
    • One of the included rewards is a tradeable "Blood theatre casket" which opens for 3 ToB rewards, one of which is a guaranteed item from the "rare" or "very rare" table. The Grand luck falcon pet increases odds for a very rare!

Gameplay Changes & QoLs

  • New elite donator+ perk
    • As an elite+ donator, you can go to the Donator coin shop at ::dzone and buy the "Coin banking" perk scroll for 25B
    • When activated, depositing coins in your bank will appropriately auto-convert them into cash bags
    • This should greatly reduce hassle when it comes to depositing coin loot from both PvM and PvP!

  • Other / Fixes / Etc.
    • Improved the defensive stats for Inquisitor armour
    • You can now purchase an autokeep "Bound looting bag" for 1,000 blood shards (items in the looting bag are still risked on death though, of course!)
    • Nerfed the chance for superior boss spawns via blood obelisk (shadow) spawns
    • Added a new requirement for cursed BH, where you need at least 100+ player kills to participate (anti-farm)
    • Removed the bork pet effect from granite maul's special attack
    • Lowered the dragon scimitar prayer disable effect to 3-4 seconds
    • Your hitsplats on max hit dummies will now always be your max hit
    • You can no longer put coin shop items in the trading post
    • Increased the chance for lunar hide top via summer 2020 casket (there have been far more chaps than bodies)
    • Fixed an issue where you couldn't input a capital "K" "M" or "B" when entering item quantities ("enter amount" dialogue)

Sick update, might be worried that cursed bounty items will become worth less very soon now that the new boss drops the items as well. Might keep an eye on the influx of these items

I think with the cursed shop items, if you have them as good enough bloodcore token values, they should never drop too low in price.

Also @Ryan i'd personally like to see some improvements on the lower tier donor zones, I never ever go to ezone anymore because it seems like the drops are just worthless. Would we be able to get something added uniquely to each of the different levels of donor zone as alot of people skip past many zones until they have enough for mythic as the middle ones just have no value. This would promote slower tier progression and create more value for bonds.

Lack luster update, just the same concept as usual PvM bait for pking.

Mythic zone is definitely not worth the 5k even after this rework.

Still waiting for that big update to make me have that motivation to play.

Pretty nice update,

need clarification on gilded fairy, does it add chance on top of fairy and make it 40% or it has 5% to double its drop

EX : avarice i = 2x crystal, f genie 35% for X4 crystal, does the new pet give you 5% chance on x8 or just 40% on x4?

How does it work with the risk protection? People who have shade can just drop snother pet to have "risk" then once he attcks a risker he can drop the shade genie again to have 0 risk..

Risk is indicated / classified by items that you're risking on death. If your item is protected, it does not contribute to your risk factor.

On top of that you're required to skull.

Speaking of risk protection: Some potential issues with the system has been brought to our attention. Everyone stay tuned for some upcoming adjustments to it today!

Yeh but if the drop a shade genie after attacking a risker, they have 0 risk. Or did u make it so that even when the shade is dropped or in his inventory; hes not able to attack?

Great update ryan, Possibly lower the prices of the items in the edgepvp shop seeing that many players aren't gonna grind 2.5k kills plus for the sorcerer set, etc.

Meh.., content is 10/10 but ...

 

Alot of more important stuff has been overlooked seems like a sloppy solution to the crucial issues with the game

Nice to see a new wilderness boss since shit was kinda becoming boring to play

Feeding to the retarteds in mythic love to know that when they little kids cry about "rank not being worth 5k$" you bow down to them and feed them more shit 🤣. You honestly make this game way to easy for mythic, instead of working on all donator ranks. Legendary and sponsor are both shitty ranks but you do nothing about them just keep feeding the mythic kids.

Nice to see the risk protection finnaly put in place no more no risk kids rushing you while you risk and they don't.

Mediocre update, hope to see better in the future
