[October 31st, 2019] Gameplay QoLs, changes, and fixes!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
While we continue working on future updates, we hope you all enjoy this set of QoLs, gameplay improvements, and fixes!
Be sure to check out the bottom of this thread for a look ahead on our plans for November!

 

Gameplay QoLs, changes, and fixes:

  • Client optimization
    • We've made more tweaks to improve to client performance! This is ongoing effort, and we appreciate all of your patience!
    • These optimizations should ideally reduce the amount of FPS stutters and "dead clicks" where clicks don't register
    • QUICK TIP: For those who don't know, there also a few things that you can do to improve performance even more!
      1. Enable "Lite mode" in your options tab
      2. Make sure "Extended zoom & distance" is DISABLED (this feature is really taxing on performance)
      3. Play in Fixed mode rather than Resizable mode
      4. Play on Oldschool graphics
         
  • New clan features
    • The following commands have been added for clan management:
      • ::ccmute [name]
        • Mutes a player from your clan
      • ::cctempmute [name]
        • Prompts a dialogue that allows you to temporarily mute a player from your clan
        • The player will automatically be unmuted after the duration ends
      • ::cctempban [name]
        • Prompts a dialogue that allows you to temporarily ban a player from your clan
        • The player will automatically be unbanned after the duration ends
           
    • We've also added a new "Always right-click clan members" attack option, which will also apply for spells!

    • Clan-mates will now also appear with highlighted purple names for better distinction

  • Combat improvements
    • If a player is teleblocked, when the teleblocker dies, the player's teleblock timer will now be lifted
    • PID randomization for combat was unintentionally disabled on the previous update, and is now re-enabled
    • Made various fixes to the pathing system
      • If the new pathing continues to experience issues, we plan to reverse the changes made from the October 10th update until a more thorough investigation is made
    • Added a damage cap to dark bow and blood dark bow's standard attack (previously uncapped)
    • Skotizo sceptre can now be used to cast god spells (non autocast)
    • Fixed an issue where if you had an NPC in your clickbox with "right-click attack NPCs only" and you attempted to mage other players, it would require you to right-click them as well
    • Fixed an issue with zaryte bow special attack commencing slower than intended
    • Fixed an issue with the protect from item prayer occasionally still working even at 0 prayer points on death
    • Raised the Scythe of Vitur & Blood reaper scythe's PvM max hit special attack cap to 200-200 instead of 90-90
      • Initially the cap was completely removed, but later re-added in a hotfix due to unforeseen balancing issues

         
  • Wilderness
    • Added two new Crazy archaeologist spawns to the east and west of the original Crazy archaeologist
    • Added wilderness only cash bag stack drops for Demonic gorillas
    • You can now return your blood orbs (except cursed) to Risky Rick for 50% of the purchase price
    • You can now slash webs with scythes (vitur, blood reaper, etc.)
    • You can now use items on your looting bag in the wilderness to swiftly deposit them

       
  • Miscellaneous fixes & QoLs
    • You can now see your active listing counts in the Marketplace, as well as your maximum slots

    • Uncharged ethereum bracelets can now be noted
      • Noted ethereum bracelets (u) can now be left-click to "Dismantle-all" and receive your ether all at once!
    • Increased blood reaper scythe's protection value
    • Increased imbued god staves protection values
    • Added a ::raids command to show your completed raids for each difficulty, and in total
    • Added functionality to the exit in the Chambers of Xeric entrance
    • Added a warning dialogue when attempting to activate Larran's scroll
    • Fixed the typo stating the blood king 1st place prize is a $45.00 bond rather than $30.00
    • Fixed an issue with certain enchantments showing invalid attempt stats when announced on yell
    • Fixed an issue where case sensitive usernames were not showing up properly on yell (all caps, for example)

 

Looking ahead (November):

SpawnPK has a variety of different players, each compartmentalizing to their preferred play-styles.

There are some who predominately PvM and want to see new content in that area, and there are also many others who want to see our combat system (+ wilderness content) receive the attention it needs.

We try our best to create a balance of those two pillars in our updates, but unfortunately at times this divided attention can result in falling short all together. While improving our approach with development, we aim to reduce these instances.

Here's a list of our goals for November:

  • Address issues with the server engine's stability, causing actions to delay more than intended despite the player's ping
    • This effects not just combat, but any kind of tick reliant gameplay
       
  • Continuously improve client performance
    • Lag aside, this produces a lot of undesirable issues such as dead clicks
       
  • Continuously improve our combat system
    • One of our weakest points has been a lack of thorough testing before the release of combat modifications. At times fixing one issue may create a brand new one, which can be avoided with a strong enough QA system.
    • Players with relatively advanced PKing ability will be hand-picked and invited to our "test group" in the near future, with access to a separate test world. Not only is this beneficial due to their ability to do thorough testing, but I will also be personally engaging with them so that I can be more in-tuned with the state of things.
       
  • New content that will entertain multiple areas of SPK
    • LMS (Last man standing) minigame
    • Theatre of Blood
    • Potentially more if time permits!

WOW! You listened to my suggestion thread! (hopefully)

 

This just helped me big time when I run into tbers that die, I've lost potential loots due to having to run to wildy line.. BIG HELP with this update, thank you!

Amazing update, this will for sure enhance the QOL by a lot for many players :D

Also that look-ahead is juicy asf, can't wait :D Gl with the implantation of all that good stuff :)

More content for the "rich" is needed, sure you can pk and pvm but at a point those become boring. We need some more content! Nice update still!

All the content you need is at ::gamble or ::duel feller
